Former coach and Florida Sports Hall of Fame member Steve Spurrier has stepped forward to become the first Honorary Chairman of the new Florida Sports Hall of Fame Patrons Program. This partnership program is being introduced to offer fans and enthusiasts the satisfaction of supporting sports at all levels – from local youth programs to professional athletes. Patrons enjoy access to great benefits and discounts, logo merchandise, exclusive digital content, special events and exclusive offers.
The Florida Sports Hall of Fame recognizes and honors the state’s greatest sports figures and leverages this collective celebrity to benefit sports-related causes. Through tax-deductible donations, participation in the Florida Sports Hall of Fame Patrons Program will elevate sports in the state of Florida by offering historical perspectives, providing educational opportunities, and promoting fitness and wellness. Patrons may join at four different levels: Student Partner, Individual Partner, Corporate Partner, and MVP Partner.
Spurrier played quarterback at the University of Florida where he won the Heisman Trophy in 1966. In 1989, he became the head coach for the Florida Gators where he successfully captured the Gators’ first officially recognized SEC title in 1991 and their first National Championship in 1996. He currently serves as an ambassador and consultant to the school’s athletic department. He was inducted into the Florida Sports Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 1970.
”We live in age that focuses on our everyday participation in sports, but sometimes we lose sight of the rich heritage and lessons that can be learned from some of the all-time greats,” Spurrier said. “Here’s a chance to become part of Florida sports history and join fellow Members of the Florida Sports Hall of Fame to support this great cause!”
