Dr. Don Veller coached FSU to its first football victory in 1948 and was the long-time coach of the FSU men’s golf team.

Veller was hired by Dr. Doak Campbell and over his five years at the helm of the Seminoles’ program, had a record of 31-12-1. Veller gave FSU its first winning season and one of two undefeated seasons in the program’s history (8-0 in 1950). In his first three seasons alone, the team won 24 of 26 games.

Don became the Seminole men’s golf coach after resigning as football coach. He amassed a 78-23 dual meet record and coached some of FSU’s finest PGA Tour players including: Hubert Green, Paul Azinger, Jeff Sluman, and Kenny Know. In 2004, Florida State completed renovations to their golf course and re-named it in his honor.
