James William Dooley (February 8, 1930 – January 8, 2008) was a former American football player and coach. He is best remembered for his tenure in both capacities as a wide receiver and then later head coach of the National Football League’s Chicago Bears. Playing for the University of Miami, Dooley played both offense and defense, and earned himself All-American honors. He was the first Miami player to have his number retired. In 1997, he was honored by his alma mater with a spot in the Miami Hurricanes’ Ring of Honor.
